Great Day of Service
Begun in 2002, the Great Day of
Service is a day in which church members unite to do mission projects throughout
our community. The day begins with a breakfast. Then groups are divided
to cover selected projects in the community. Projects include work at
local children's facilities, nursing homes, medical
facilities and construction builds. Work to be completed varies from painting,
landscaping and construction, to entertainment. No skills are necessary-just a
willing heart. The 6th Annual Great Day of Service was held on Saturday, April
21st, 2007.
Square Foot Ministries
Square Foot Ministries provides an
opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action. Diverse groups
of people work together to make affordable housing and better communities a
reality for everyone, creating a community where bonds between individuals can
grow. Their goal is to employ God's gifts of resources, talents, and wisdom for
the purpose of providing shelter and home repairs for the needy in Fayette
County and surrounding areas.
Begun by church members as well as other
people from community churches, Square Foot Ministry has already built one
house, completed numerous small repair projects, and is currently working with
Fayette Samaritans to build their new office/warehouse facility. They have made
a 10 year commitment to the \pass Christian community in Mississippi to help
build 100 homes. The next Blitz Build is scheduled for February of 2008. For more information, e-mail: sfm@squarefootministry.com.
Cell Phone Collections
The Bethany Circle of our church
is accepting donations of old cell phones for use by the Fayette County Council
on Domestic Violence. They will be refurbished and programmed for domestic
violence victims to make 911 calls. Please deposit phones in the boxes outside
the sanctuary and in the children's hallway. For more information, call the
Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence, 770-460-6125.
